What free actually gets you

Most sites that call themselves free ask for an email before the first reply. SpicyChat does not: open a character and start chatting and the reply that comes back is the model actually running, not a canned line. The site's own banner is upfront that an anonymous chat will not be saved and comes with a limited message allowance, and that same real reply is there to try before you decide whether to make an account at all.

An account is free too, and mostly changes what happens to what you already have: conversations save, and a 'Free' tier tag applies once you are in. Signing up is what turns a one-off reply into a running chat you can come back to.

Characters and how they're built

The roster is enormous and mostly user-made: the site's own tag counts put a single facet like FemalePOV in six figures, so browsing works more like scrolling a catalog than picking from a handful of house characters. Making your own is in-nav from the start, alongside tools for lorebooks, groups and voice.

Group chats and longer memory, what the site calls its Memory Manager, scale with the plan, from a starter context window on the free tier up to a much larger one at the top. In-chat images open on the middle plan and up; everything about building and running a character stays free.

What the plans cost

Three tiers run $5, $14.95 and $24.95 a month, each adding more personas and more memory, with the middle tier the first to add unlimited in-chat images. Paying annually takes 17% off any of them, and the jump from $5 to $14.95 is the one that matters most: it is the plan the site itself points to as its main offer.
